Pencoed House, Cardiff – Rhianydd and Daniel’s Summer Wedding

Weddings for me are all about family and emotion, laughter and creating good memories. Dan and Rhianydd’s Pencoed House wedding was absolutely crammed with laughter despite a very emotional start to the day. The night before I had a message to let me know that Charlie, the father of the bride, had been rushed to hospital a few days previously and was far too unwell to leave his hospital bed. Thankfully, when I turned up early they had been told that he would be released for an hour for the church ceremony – we started the day in tears of joy and far later on we ended the day with tears of laughter.

The Couple

Rhianydd and Dan are a wonderful couple that began as friends. They fit and flowed together in the way that only a couple who are meant to be can. Family is an integral part of their lives and throughout the day it was great to see the two families come together.  The details including their table numbers, which they chose as important dates or numbers from their lives, worked together perfectly to create their dream wedding

The Venue

“They” say it’s lucky if it rains on your wedding day and boy did the heavens open, but Pencoed House is a venue that deals well with any scenario. The showers were brief and there was plenty of cover, but the guests were all happy and having fun and certainly didn’t let the rain bother them. Then when the sun came out again a few minutes later people were quickly back outside enjoying the sun. The old barn looked amazing with Rhianydd’s choice of centrepieces and a cake supplied by Wish Upon a Cupcake.

The Theme

With gentle pastel pinks and the majority of decor being silver and white the wedding had a gorgeous summery theme. It was incredibly peaceful walking around the venue with huge buckets of flowers everywhere and just hearing laughter from every direction. Their little 2 year old daughter was centre of attention with her gorgeous white blonde curls, gorgeous flower girl dress and huge personality. The final touches were perfect and the sparkler exit at the very end of the day created the perfect atmosphere to wish the newlyweds all the best on the start to their new lives.

I’ll finish with the words of someone I admire greatly, and whenever I think of this wedding I think of this quote:

“Make sure you marry someone who laughs at the same things you do” – J D Salinger

Have a look through some of the highlights, see why I think it’s so fitting for these two. Love you guys, what an epic day!
