St Donat’s Castle, Llantwit Major – Beth and Lucien’s Handfasting Wedding

Beth & Lucian – St Donat’s Castle, Llantwit Major

When Beth contacted me to discuss her upcoming wedding to Lucian, I knew at once that we’d hit jackpot. She wanted a laid back approach to their handfasting ceremony at a location so very dear to her heart – St Donat’s Castle. She knew it more as Atlantic College where she spent her collage years studying towards the Welsh Baccalaureate. Now personally I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and St Donat’s is practically out of the films… I was in my element.

The castle itself tells a grand story and to add to the atmosphere this wedding was filled with so many personal touches. The bridal party had gathered and assembled the decorations, while the Mother-of-the-bride arranged all of the flowers. Even the couple themselves made the cake! The bridesmaids were encouraged to wear any shade of blue while the men were suited and booted in a blue suit of their choice. This hugely added to the relaxed atmosphere that was so enjoyed by all of their family and friends.

After a short walk down towards the coast through St Donat’s tiered gardens we stopped by the sea to enjoy the atmospheric sky, and returned back up to the great hall for a ceilidh band dance. After much hilarity and clapping we left with huge smiles on our faces – more like this one please!

A huge thank you to Beth, Lucian, the bridal party and their friends and family. We felt so incredibly welcome.

Beth, Lucian, here’s a brief snippet of your day. Wishing you all the best for your future together xx
