Kate and Stephen – Pencoed House Family Wedding
The Couple
It’s not very often that we take on a family wedding having never met a couple, but this is exactly what happened with Kate and Stephen. From the moment I arrived with the bride I knew that I was in for a day of laughing, filled with natural shots of them interacting because the theme for this one beyond everything else was family. Lottie, their daughter was absolutely the epicentre of their lives and the main star. The feeling of sisterhood as I wandered around during bridal prep was incredible, everyone was hands on, helping each other and it provided such a lovely atmosphere. Stephen and Kate are absolutely meant to be, this wasn’t a sealing of a relationship this whole day was about celebrating their union – and what a celebration it was. It’s clear to see that they are best friends who love to be together and laugh AT each other (like at glitter incidents, or cake in the face incidents). Onwards to Pencoed House!
The Venue
Pencoed house was their venue which perfectly complemented their theme of lace, blush pink with flower accents. The grounds provided space for their younger guests to be free while everyone else could enjoy a drink in the gorgeous outdoor patio areas – so important for a family wedding. We love Pencoed house, it’s contained so that you don’t lose your guests but so private that a few steps means you can get some lovely peaceful shots of the couple and their families interacting. Look out for Jaime the host hoovering the groom, yep! Above and beyond! The police car was a nod to Kate’s profession, being a policewoman she knew she needed something a little different!
The day
This day was full of gorgeous touching moments that we were honoured to capture. The bridal party getting ready was probably the most relaxed morning I’ve experienced as a wedding photographer, there was this great feeling of peace over everyone. One of my favourite moments was seeing the Father of the bride helping his baby girl into her wedding dress – so absolutely touching watching him carefully button up her incredible dress. Watching the family interact and run together so that little Lottie could run like a superhero, and an incredibly touching set of speeches were amongst the highlights. All in all, one epic day, one unforgettable family wedding.
